  • What does being 18 mean?

Sure, 18 is the legal "adult" age in the U.S. But really, you can't do anything except buy cigarettes and other things that are essentially not good. (Really, why would you buy cigs in the first place? And then there's the fact that a lot of people are already smoking even before they're 18, so really what's the point?)

Just thought I'd post something on here, in case some people were just intending to give me money (which I wouldn't mind, but there are things that I actually want/need). ()

    Le Wishlist
    1. the Sarah Bareilles CD "Little Voice"
    2. Jason Mraz CD "We Sing We Dance We Steal Things"
    3. the piano book of Sarah Bareilles music (I want to use "Gravity" for the talent show next month.)

    Things I Need
    1. a laptop (not urgent, but I'll need one for next year anyway)

Hahaha, not very long lists, which may be a good thing. I'm not really that materialistic. My room is just messy. *sigh*

Oh, also, I went up to JMU this past weekend for my Musical Theatre audition, which I think went okay. The only thing is that my actual application for JMU isn't complete yet, on account of things that my guidance counselor should have sent already. I hope that we (Mr. Waite and I) can get this worked out because I really liked JMU (even if it is 4 hours away!).

Here's a link to the note I wrote on Facebook about my experience. I hope anyone who wants to can see it.

  • scissors beat paper

Would you believe that my 20th Century Topics teacher showed this to us during class today? Well...

    BELIEVE IT!

We're studying World War II, and one of the issues today was "Why did Germany ultimately lose WWII?" We had to think of reasons first, and then she took an overhead and put it on the screen. Everyone lost it and laughed for a good two or three minutes before we could discuss anything rationally again.

I think that was one of my favorite moments of today.

  • On To New Things

The Hurrah Players' production of "Seussical the Musical" officially ended on Sunday. I can only say that I've had the second best time of my life working on "Seussical the Musical" with everyone in the Hurrah Players. (Or mostly everyone. lol) It was such a fun time and it really helped me deal with some of the other, tougher things going on. I could just put on that yellow dress, yellow labcoat, and goggles, and say "We're Whos here. We're all Whos here, smaller than the eye can see." It made me feel better about my height too. lol again.

I have an audition for Holidays in Virginia (one of Hurrah's Xmas shows) tonight at 9:15 PM. I get to stay at the studio for about an hour and a half after my tap class. Maybe I'll go grub somewhere in Norfolk? P:)

If I ever said something bad about Mrs. Hughes, I take it back now. She's pretty cool. Like Nulte is when he's really deep into talking about Broadway. :)

Chorus in general is alright. We've got a few gigs coming up soon, so that's got me excited. But Prescott better tell us who is in Bebop and Renaissance soon, or else I know a bunch of us will come after him. D:)

I'm excited that it's getting colder outside. Maybe we'll have a white Christmas for real this year. (:D

    Chi-Chi / Chelsea

P.S. And since we have two weeks off for Christmas in December, I hope my family will go up to New Jersey to visit my aunts. They only live about AN HOUR AWAY from NYC. There are some shows that I really REALLY want to see. *hint hint*

  • Woes...and maybe nice things too

I meant to type a note Monday night, but felt like I would say silly things because I was pretty annoyed.

And I'm still a little annoyed. But not as much.

Okay. Here's a pros and cons list of Prescott (yes, he lets us call him by his last name only).
    Pros
--he teaches each vocal part in class
    --he can play piano well
--he has a thoe (I can't really think of another pro... :/ )

    Cons
--he limits the "fun" (more than Nult did)
--he has a scary smile (scarier than Nult's)
--he does the little thing where he stops talking and just waits for the talking people to shut up
--he wants us to be hyper and peppy for every freaking rehearsal
--he insults the students and comes off looking and sounding like he really means it
--he's naive if he thinks that we don't need Saturday rehearsals

Not that he isn't a good director. And he has gotten things done. But it's just...too weird, too different. Gah...

nota bene: The first chorus show (with our freaky patriotic theme) will be October 21. Come to see the campiness. Come to see friends. But come especially because Prescott's charging us about $700 to go to New York in January, and we need the money to make the price go down. D:

On a better, more fun note, the Hurrah Players' production of "Seussical the Musical" opens on October 10. I am having so much more fun with them than I expected to have. I have made new friends and am gaining a bunch more experience with performing and rehearsing than I am with chorus. And I am taking a tap class with Hurrah and learning loads there too. (:D

I hope all of you are having good times, wherever you are.

Remember: October 10 through the end of the month on weekends - go see "Seussical"
Remember: October 21 - provide some moral (and monetary) support for PAHS Chorus

    (sorry for the rant. lol)

P.S. I also forgot to mention that we have this chick choreographer who's been giving us "dance moves" for our "show choir." I know last Monday night was a complete waste of time, but at least we finished the first piece Monday night (with only 4 more dance rehearsals).

About Me

  • I guess I should say that I'm a person of varied interests. These range from Broadway musicals, to playing the piano, to writing my own stories, to reading, drawing, dancing, yoga, singing, and a bunch of other things. I'm set on doing a double major in both Musical Theater and Music Education in college. 8)
